Albis was a secret WWII-era underground factory hidden in the cellars of the old Labskozámecký Brewery in Litoměřice. German occupiers converted the brewery’s basements to produce aircraft propellers and wooden aircraft parts, using forced labour. The brewery stopped brewing in 1940, and in 1942 the site became part of the Albis-Werke, manufacturing for the war effort. After 1945 the space was used as cold storage and later as Litoměřické mrazírny; the underground has since fallen into ruin and much of the surface complex is abandoned and decaying.
After 1996 the site was privatized, later damaged by fire, and now stands partly derelict with collapsed roofs, rusted metal, and massive underground cellars.
Inside the underground complex, you can find a huge non-functional engine/generator, old German inscriptions on the walls, and even chilling signs such as “morgue storage.” The atmosphere is raw and untouched, with concrete corridors, rusted metal, and traces of its wartime past.
The site is relatively hard to access. From the upper side, the area is fenced off, with warning signs about CCTV (none visibly present) and a guard dog. There is a doghouse on site, but no dog was seen. Security patrols occasionally.
From the lower side, it is possible to reach the underground directly by crossing railway tracks and climbing a bush-covered hill. During the day, the upper area sees more people, while the lower access is quieter but involves an off-road path.
A few kilometers frim the site is also the underground factory Richard, one of the largest WWII underground complexes in the Czech Republic. The tunnel system stretches for several kilometres. Today, it is extremely difficult to access. The only known way inside is through a relatively inconspicuous hole in the ground, which requires rappelling down into the darkness. The entrance is hidden and not easy to find, making the location both challenging and risky to explore.
